Spring has arrived in spectacular fashion at Waterdrinker Family Farm, where the annual Tulip Festival has grown into one of Long Island’s most vibrant seasonal attractions.

Now in its eighth year at the Manorville location, with another in Riverhead, the festival has expanded dramatically, featuring up to 2 million tulips in bloom alongside a sprawling field of daffodils. Rows of brilliant color stretch across the property, drawing families, photographers, and flower lovers from across the region.

“It’s a beautiful place to spend a sunny afternoon,” said Brittany Grube of East Moriches, who visited with her daughter, Abrianna. “We loved it.”

Visitors can wander through the fields, take photos among the blossoms, and participate in the popular U-pick experience, bringing home fresh-cut tulips by the stem.

But the flowers are only part of the draw.

The farm has evolved into a full family destination, complete with a lively petting zoo featuring pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, donkeys, and even a giant tortoise. Children can enjoy mini golf, jumbo jump pads, and open play areas, while adults take in the relaxed, outdoor atmosphere.

“It was really nice to be among so many flowers,” said Trisha Dupiton of Selden. “They are very aesthetic and have a calming effect on your soul.”

A standout feature is the “Little Amsterdam” village, a charming area that brings the spirit of the Netherlands to life. Visitors can stroll through the miniature town and explore exhibits detailing the origins of tulip cultivation and Amsterdam’s deep connection to the flower. The immersive setup offers a fun, educational experience for kids and adults alike.

Adding to the experience is the on-site brewery, now in its fifth year of operation. According to bartender Cole Olson, the brewery produces its own craft beverages, giving visitors a chance to unwind with a locally made drink after exploring the grounds.

With countless photo opportunities, activities for all ages, and ever-expanding floral displays, the festival continues to grow in popularity each season.
