Brookhaven collects thousands of winter clothing items in annual coat drive

The Town of Brookhaven’s Annual INTERFACE Winter Coat Drive, led by the Youth Bureau and held from January 9 through February 6, collected thousands of winter clothing items for those in need. The initiative is part of Brookhaven’s ongoing efforts to provide municipal services that focus on resident needs and community improvements, as detailed on the official website https://www.brookhavenny.gov/.

This year’s drive resulted in the donation of 2,103 coats, 75 sweaters and sweatshirts, more than 800 hats, gloves, and scarves, four pairs of boots, and five pairs of children’s sneakers. All donated items will be distributed through the INTERFACE Program to individuals and families across the town.

Supervisor Dan Panico commented on the success of this year’s campaign: “Each year, this drive helps ensure our neighbors have access to warm winter clothing. This year’s response was truly remarkable and reflects the compassion and community spirit of Brookhaven residents. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to this important effort.”

Panico has emphasized responsible development and quality of life enhancements during his tenure as supervisor https://www.brookhavenny.gov/. Brookhaven provides accessible programs and facilities for its Suffolk County residents https://www.brookhavenny.gov/, including recreational options such as nature preserves and youth support initiatives. The town continues to prioritize community involvement through programs like INTERFACE.

INTERFACE operates as a partnership between individuals, businesses, not-for-profit agencies, fraternal organizations, and the Town itself. Approximately 100 organizations participate in providing goods and services to address social issues within Brookhaven. More information about INTERFACE can be found by contacting the Youth Bureau or visiting their Community Programs page.
