The Town of Brookhaven held its 15th Annual “Building Business in Brookhaven Expo” on October 10 at Town Hall. The event, organized by the Brookhaven Business Advisory Council (BBAC), brought together 450 local business people and featured 100 vendors. The expo centered on business networking and included a trade show with booths from local, regional, and national companies serving businesses in the town.
The event was presented by the Town of Brookhaven Division of Economic Development in partnership with the BBAC and the Town of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA). Attendees included Lisa Mulligan, Director of Economic Development and IDA CEO; Henry Bramwell, BBAC President; Brian Cohen, BBAC Vice President; Councilman Michael Loguercio; Councilwoman Jane Bonner; James Tullo, IDA Deputy Director; Supervisor Ed Romaine; and Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright.
The BBAC acts as a liaison to the Division of Economic Development. It is made up of business owners and professionals who volunteer to help distribute information between town government and business communities. The council also gathers data on businesses in Brookhaven and creates public information programs to inform local businesses about outreach initiatives and available assistance.
Brookhaven is described as a thriving community for living, working, and recreation, led by a supervisor and board focused on development and resident well-being. The council provides services including recreational sites and youth support programs, while promoting safety and engagement through various events (source).
