Stony Brook University reflects on leadership change and record achievements in 2025

Stony Brook University has highlighted several significant developments from 2025, marking the year as notable for both achievements and milestones.

Among the key events was the arrival of Andrea Goldsmith, who became the university's seventh president. The institution also celebrated major research advancements and athletic accomplishments, including another conference title secured by its women’s lacrosse team. In addition, Stony Brook reported a record number of applications received in 2025.

A review conducted by SBU News presented these events as part of its annual summary, noting that the year was memorable for students, faculty, and staff. “From the arrival of Stony Brook’s seventh president, Andrea Goldsmith, to landmark research news, another conference title for our women’s lacrosse team and the most applications in school history, 2025 was certainly memorable and exciting,” stated SBU News.
