William Floyd School District announces two-hour delay due to weather

William Floyd School District | Official website

The William Floyd School District has announced a two-hour delayed opening for Monday, December 15, due to expected weather conditions. The delay will also apply to the Floyd Academy.

"Due to the anticipated weather conditions, the William Floyd School District will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday, December 15. The Floyd Academy will also operate on a two-hour delayed schedule. Please be safe!" according to the district.

Students who use bus transportation are instructed to arrive at their stops two hours later than usual. Those who are dropped off or drive themselves should also plan to arrive two hours later than their normal time. Upon arrival, high school and middle school students will report directly to their first period class. Class periods will be shortened so that all classes can meet.

Breakfast and lunch services will remain available, and dismissal times for all schools will not change. After-school activities are expected to proceed as planned, but families are encouraged to confirm specific program details with coaches or advisors. All before-school activities and clubs have been canceled for the day.

Families with children in Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) programs are advised to check directly with their child’s teacher or provider since UPK follows a separate schedule.

The William Floyd High School Equivalency Program (GED) is canceled for the day. Occupational Education programs at Milliken Technical Center and Bixhorn Technical Center are also canceled; students attending these programs should be prepared for bus pickup starting at 10:15 am for an 11:15 am arrival at the high school.

Floyd Academy Interim Placement is scheduled to run as normal.

The district stated that if there are any changes, such as shifting from a delayed opening to a closure, updates will be communicated promptly.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
