Former William Floyd High School student Nick Nappi recently returned to his alma mater to speak with students in the Career Launchpad class, part of the Special Education Department. During his visit, Nappi discussed his experiences after graduating high school, including details about his current job and how he has worked toward independence.

Carmella Currao, who was Nappi’s teacher during his time at William Floyd, expressed her pride in her former student. “Nick is doing incredibly well. He is working hard at his job at the Long Island Aquarium, taking SCAT (Suffolk County Accessible Transportation) independently to and from work, and has even opened his own bank account. He’s earning his own money and thriving in competitive employment. We are so proud of him and everything he has accomplished!”

Following the presentation, Nappi took questions from students and offered encouragement for their own paths after high school.

Nappi also met with principal Philip Scotto and assistant principal Brian Kennedy during his visit.
