Stony Brook University installs 10 faculty into endowed positions at annual ceremony

Stony Brook University recognized 10 faculty members at its annual investiture ceremony, which took place on October 24 at the Charles B. Wang Center Theater during Homecoming weekend. The event marked the formal installation of these faculty into endowed positions, considered among the highest academic honors at the university.

Endowed positions play a significant role in supporting leading faculty members. They help Stony Brook University attract accomplished educators and researchers who contribute to teaching, healthcare, and scientific advancement. These roles also honor the donors whose contributions make them possible.

“Today we recognize our distinguished faculty whose groundbreaking work defines Stony Brook’s excellence,” said Stony Brook University President Andrea Goldsmith. “We are deeply grateful to our remarkable supporters and the transformational impact of the endowed chairs they have created. Because of their partnership, we are accelerating discovery, building our faculty to educate and advance the frontiers of knowledge in more dimensions and catalyzing research excellence by empowering the remarkable people who drive it.”

Additional information about the honored faculty and photos from the ceremony can be found in a story by Christine McGrath in SB Matters.
