FoodLab at Stony Brook Southampton is organizing its next “Tea Talk Tuesday” event on November 4, featuring Paula Montagna, a registered dietitian from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. The event will be held from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the Carriage House/Technology Center and is open to the public free of charge.

Montagna has extensive experience in both clinical and community nutrition. She has contributed her expertise to organizations such as the Mediterranean Diet Roundtable, where she focuses on applying Mediterranean-inspired approaches to nutrition and patient care.

Tea Talk Tuesday is a monthly series that brings together experts from Stony Brook University and local practitioners with community members to discuss topics related to food, health, and sustainability. The sessions aim to connect research and practical knowledge for broader community benefit.

Judiann Carmack-Fayyaz, Executive Director of FoodLab, explained the purpose behind the series: “We built Tea Talk Tuesday on a simple idea: the community is our classroom. With a cup of tea, you can slow down, connect with neighbors, and learn, side by side with Stony Brook experts and local voices.”

The event also features local vendor pop-ups that allow small businesses to engage with attendees before and after the discussion. Harney & Sons Fine Teas sponsors the tea service.

More information about this event can be found on the FoodLab website or by contacting judiann.carmack-fayyaz@stonybrook.edu.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
