William Floyd High School to present 'Puffs' theater production on November 7-8

William Floyd School District | Official website

The William Floyd High School Theater Arts program will stage the play "Puffs" on November 7 and 8 at 6:30 pm in the Nick Poulos Auditorium. The production features students from the theater arts program and is directed by Berkeley Rousseau.

"Puffs" is described as a non-authorized and non-licensed production set in the same magical school attended by Harry Potter, but told from the viewpoint of other students. The play was written by Matt Cox and is known as an Off-Broadway hit that offers a satirical take on the events of the Harry Potter universe. The story focuses on a group of friends at the school who are not the main heroes, but are also trying to find their place.

The school notes that "Puffs is not authorized, sanctioned, licensed or endorsed by J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros. or any person or company associated with the Harry Potter books, films or play."

Tickets are priced at $12 and can be purchased in advance online or at the door with cash.

The production’s poster art was created by freshman Welman Gomez Zelaya.

"Come and check out the very talented William Floyd High School Theater Arts students, under the direction of Berkeley Rousseau, bring to life this Off-Broadway hit that tells the story of a group of friends trying to find their place in the world, while that other young wizard was off battling evil," the school stated.

"For seven years, a certain boy wizard went to a certain wizard school and conquered evil. This, however, is NOT his story. This is the story of the Puffs…who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has NEVER been destined to save the world," according to the description provided by the school.
