South Ocean Middle School provides free haircuts for picture day

A partnership with Three Jays Barber Shop helps South Ocean students look smart for picture day.

South Ocean Middle School helped students look their best for picture day with free haircuts from the principal and barbers from a local barbershop. Principal Christopher Cherouvis and barbers from the Three Jays Barber Shop volunteered their time over the weekend before picture day to make sure students looked and felt outstanding.

The special event reinforced the sense of pride, confidence, and belonging within the school community. Educators at South Ocean Middle School work hard to instill these traits and positive attitudes in their students.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and give back in ways that directly benefit our students,” said Principal Cherouvis. “One of my goals is to ensure that each of our students feels confident, supported, and prepared for every aspect of school life, both academically and personally.”

Following the Patchogue-Medford homecoming parade on Saturday, October 4th, South Ocean Middle School students made their way to the middle school for free haircuts.

Patchogue-Medford School District Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations Frank Mazzie joined in the event as well to help garner excitement among the students. The scholars’ sharp looks were then showcased for picture day on Monday and Tuesday.

“The District thanks Mr. Cherouvis and Three Jays Barber Shop for graciously volunteering their time to provide students with this meaningful experience,” said Patchogue-Medford School District Interim Superintendent Lori Cannetti.

Parents and community members filled the school’s Facebook page with praise for the principal and how he leads the school staff and students as well as for the barbershop for doing their part to pay some attention to the kids and teach them to be confident in themselves.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
