Jeremy Dennis, a 2013 graduate of Stony Brook University, has curated an exhibition at the Zuccaire Gallery that focuses on Indigenous language in contemporary art. Dennis, who initially studied computer science before switching to art, has established himself as an artist with exhibitions across the United States. His work is part of the Contemporary Native American Art Collection at the New York State Museum and he received the Dreamstarter Award from Running Strong for American Indian Youth for his photography project "On This Site."

Dennis is a member of the Shinnecock Nation and has dedicated his career to preserving and sharing his community's history and culture. He was recognized as a 40 Under Forty honoree in 2017 and maintains ties with Stony Brook University by participating as a guest speaker in art classes.

The current exhibition, titled “Weaving Words, Weaving Worlds: The Power of Indigenous Language in Contemporary Art,” features works by 26 Indigenous artists from across the country. According to the press release, “Weaving Words, Weaving Worlds” explores how artists engage with Algonquian languages spoken throughout Long Island and the Northeast, as well as other Indigenous languages.
