Administrators and staff from the William Floyd Learning Center and the Floyd Academy recently received a donation of more than 100 backpacks filled with school supplies. The New York State Chaplain Task Force partnered with Represent Church to provide approximately 104 backpacks for students in the William Floyd School District, specifically those at the William Floyd Learning Center (WFLC) and the Floyd Academy.
Each backpack was equipped with items tailored to student needs. Elementary students received supplies such as crayons and glue sticks, while secondary students were given binders and loose-leaf paper.
Representatives from both organizations visited the William Floyd Learning Center to deliver the donations. WFLC principal Gary Bretton and Floyd Academy principal John DeBenedetto accepted the donation on behalf of the district. The backpacks have since been distributed to students who require supplies for the new academic year.
In addition to donating backpacks, the organizations presented two care packages to teachers Tammy Adams of the Floyd Academy and Zachary Fisher of WFLC. "Congratulations to Ms. Adams and Mr. Fisher!" read a statement in recognition of their efforts for students.
A message from organizers expressed appreciation: "Special thanks to the NYS Chaplain Task Force and Represent Church for their numerous displays of generosity throughout the years!"
The New York State Chaplain Task Force is a not-for-profit organization that trains volunteer interfaith community crisis chaplains who support individuals as well as various agencies during peaceful times or crises. Its membership includes over 6,000 people representing 11 major faith groups.
Represent Church is a non-denominational church based in Mastic Beach, holding weekly Sunday services aimed at building a welcoming environment and strong community for families across Long Island.
