Stony Brook University will host CommUniversity Day on September 27, 2025, offering local residents an opportunity to explore the university and Stony Brook Medicine. The event is free and will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on the Academic Mall at the West Campus.
CommUniversity Day, first introduced in 2017, aims to connect students, faculty, staff, and employees with community members through activities focused on learning and engagement. Over 100 departments and community partners are scheduled to participate this year.
Returning events include the LEGO competition, Ice Cream Social, and Rubber Duck Race. New features for this year’s event include an expanded Community Partners Neighborhood showcasing organizations that have worked with Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Medicine.
The event will be organized into themed “neighborhoods” such as Arts, Community, Find Out in 15, Food, Health, Safety, Tech & Discovery, and Traditions. Each neighborhood offers a variety of programs and activities designed to highlight different aspects of the university.
A food drive supporting Island Harvest will also be held during CommUniversity Day. Attendees are encouraged to bring two non-perishable food items in exchange for a complimentary cooler bag while supplies last. Island Harvest works toward ending hunger and reducing food waste on Long Island.
