Brookhaven hosts expo showcasing technology and learning at public libraries

Brookhaven Town Hall | Town of Brookhaven

The Brookhaven Town Public Libraries Expo, held on September 13 at Town Hall in Farmingville, attracted approximately 1,200 visitors. The event brought together all 13 public libraries from the town under one roof and was hosted by Town Clerk Kevin LaValle.

Attendees were able to interact with technology such as 3D printers, Cricut machines, and robotics. Exhibits also included topics like local history, coding, virtual reality experiences, and a mobile planetarium. Activities for families ranged from crafts to giveaways and career resources.

Town Clerk Kevin LaValle commented on the turnout: “Seeing 1,200 residents come together to celebrate everything our libraries represent: education, technology, and community, was truly inspiring. The smiles on people’s faces said it all. Brookhaven libraries continue to be the backbone of our neighborhoods. I want to thank our incredible library staff, as well as our Town departments, for making this event possible. Together, we showed the powerful role libraries play in building and connecting communities”.

The expo relied on collaboration among the 13 public libraries and received logistical support from several town departments including IT, Public Information, and Engineering.

Residents seeking further details about ongoing library programs are encouraged to visit their local library websites or contact the Town Clerk’s Office at Brookhaven Town Hall.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
