Stony Brook University unveils new dining options with SBU Eats updates

Kevin Gardner, Vice President for Research and Innovation | Stony Brook University

SBU Eats has introduced a series of updates to campus dining at Stony Brook University for the new semester. Students, faculty, and staff will see refreshed menus, remodeled dining spaces, and new meal-ordering options across several locations.

The East Side and West Side dine-in areas have undergone renovations over the summer, resulting in more spacious interiors designed to encourage community interaction. Nathan’s Famous has launched a table service model at its East Side Dining location, allowing guests to order from their phones using QR codes and have food delivered directly to their tables. This is the first time such a service has been offered on campus.

A new coffee experience is available with the arrival of Nescafé Core Barista machines at multiple campus markets. These machines offer espresso drinks, cappuccinos, lattes, hot chocolate, and other beverages with quick service and reduced waste.

At the Student Activities Center (SAC) Food Court, SBU Eats has opened FLAME—a grill concept serving burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, and other comfort foods.

Several food trucks continue to operate on campus. New additions include David’s Cookies Trailer for baked goods alongside returning vendors like Anona (quesadillas and smoothies), Chatime (bubble tea), Halal Wayz (halal dishes), and Ain Food Truck (Asian fusion).

Diana Kubik, executive director of Auxiliary Services Association said: “At the heart of everything we do is our dedication to outstanding hospitality. Our team worked tirelessly over the summer, using valuable feedback from students, faculty, and staff to create dining spaces that are not only refreshed but truly welcoming. We’re excited to offer experiences where everyone feels at home and connected, building community one meal at a time.”

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
