The William Floyd High School Fine Arts Department recently held its annual senior Signing Day ceremony at the Jeananne Dawson Memorial Library. This event, organized by Dr. Amy Sckipp, Coordinator of Music, and Theresa Bianco, Fine Arts Chairperson, honored 15 students who will continue their education in arts or music at college. Each student signed a non-binding certificate of commitment to their chosen institution in front of family, friends, and teachers.
Dr. Sckipp announced that these students collectively received $500,000 in scholarships as they embark on this new chapter. Of the 15 students recognized, 10 will pursue degrees in music fields such as music education, performance, industry, sound recording technology, and theater. The remaining five students will study art disciplines including art education, animation, illustration, digital media, and fashion design.
The ceremony also featured an art exhibit and a Tri-M Recital Performance with many participating students. The art exhibit was arranged with assistance from Mrs. Bianco and other contributors including Erin Almeida and James Carson among others. The Tri-M performers were directed by Mick Singh with musical accompaniment from Donia Rivera and Berkeley Rousseau.
Congratulations were extended to all the students as they advance in their fine arts education.
