Councilwoman Bonner celebrates grand opening of The BlackSheep in Miller Place

Karen Dunne Kesnig Councilwoman District 6 | Town of Brookhaven

On June 25, Councilwoman Jane Bonner participated in the grand opening of The BlackSheep, a new restaurant in Miller Place. The event took place at the eatery's location on 465 Route 25A, previously known as Maggie’s Eatery. Attendees included Maureen Bond, Vice President of the Mount Sinai-Miller Place Chamber of Commerce; Quentin Palifka, Legislative Aide from Legislator Chad Lennon’s office; and owners Jon and Ashley Kopstein with their children.

Councilwoman Bonner presented an official Certificate of Congratulations to the owners on behalf of the Town of Brookhaven. She expressed her enthusiasm for the new establishment: “I’m excited to welcome The BlackSheep to Miller Place and look forward to seeing it become a staple in the neighborhood,” she stated. “It’s always inspiring to see a local business that brings people together through creativity and great food.”

Jon Kopstein, a resident of Port Jefferson and experienced chef, took over the site earlier this year. Previously serving as a sous chef at Maggie’s, he has now launched his first independent venture with The BlackSheep. The restaurant offers an American fusion menu within an art-filled space that emphasizes local talent.

The BlackSheep serves lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch while showcasing artwork by community members and students interpreting the theme "black sheep." This reflects its mission to embrace creativity and celebrate individuality.

For further details about The BlackSheep, visit their location at 465 Route 25A or contact them at (631) 828-5554. They can also be followed on Facebook.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
