The William Floyd Learning Center recently held a ceremony to honor its fifth-grade students as they prepare to transition to sixth grade. The event took place on June 25, 2025, and celebrated the achievements of 13 students.

During the ceremony, various awards and completion certificates were presented to the students. A musical performance by K-4 students was led by music teacher Allison Prestia. The students advancing to middle school next year are Preslee Ancona, Jaliyah Bland, Ja’Syah Earl, Travis Hamilton, Trevor Hamilton, Herve Michel, Jeremy Pelaez, Joshua Pelaez, Mohammed Proctor, Elijah Ross, Ethan Ross, Jamari Smith and Jace Verdi.

Principal Gary Bretton and assistant principal Lisa Tanturri expressed gratitude towards the community for their support. Special recognition was given to Wendy Gross, a kindergarten teacher retiring after many years of service at both Tangier Smith Elementary School and WFLC since its opening in 2017.

The ceremony included contributions from fifth-grade teacher Zachary Fisher and teaching assistant Alyson Spano. Attendees were encouraged to view additional photos from the event.
