Dr. TJ Heintz and Mrs. Jackie Cabrera, assistant principals in the William Floyd School District, have been named as Administrators of the Year for 2024-25 by the Council of Administrators and Supervisors (CAS). This recognition is awarded annually to outstanding public school administrators from Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Dr. Heintz serves as an assistant principal at William Floyd Middle School, where he has worked for 28 years. His colleague, John Rumpler, praised him as "a shining example of what it means to be an outstanding instructional leader." Dr. Heintz is known for his leadership skills and collaborative approach within the school community.
Mrs. Cabrera, who works at Tangier Smith Elementary School, has been part of the district throughout her life, including teaching there for 16 years before becoming an assistant principal nearly nine years ago. Principal Dominic Ciliotta highlighted her commitment to students and her role in creating a supportive learning environment.
The selection process for this award is competitive, with nearly 1,500 individuals considered across more than 75 CAS units. The William Floyd School District was unique in having two administrators selected this year.
