Four Men Arrested for Blowing Off Fireworks Near Homes in the Middle of the Night

Words of advice to young men who are going to engage in hijinks like blowing off fireworks, which are illegal in New York State: do not record yourselves on video committing the crime.

That’s exactly what four young men did, according to Suffolk County Police.  Now they face a litany of charges, including Criminal Nuisance in the 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment of Property.

SCPD cops cuffed and arrested the following four young men, who police stated were blowing off fireworks in a parking lot at 275 Marcus Boulevard in Hauppauge:

• Ethan Young, 24, of Port Jefferson, was arrested on May 25

• Ryan Newberg, 26, of Centereach, was arrested on May 21

• Theodore Campbell, 24, of East Setauket, was arrested on May 21

• Mark Posner, 22, of South Setauket, was arrested on May 18

Fourth Precinct Investigative Unit officers kicked off their investigation after receiving numerous complaints about fireworks being detonated during the overnight hours in Hauppauge, including an incident reported on May 2nd, 2025, at 4:15 a.m.

Authorities noted that the young men accused of blowing off fireworks were doing so right around the corner of many homes and wooded areas.

Mr. Posner was additionally charged with Unlawfully Dealing with Fireworks.

They were all issued Desk Appearance Tickets and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.

Officers are asking anyone with information on similar incidents to call the Fourth Investigative Unit at 631-854-8434.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
