This month, three doctoral students from the Department of Computer Science have been honored with the Catacosinos Fellowship for Excellence in Computer Science. Maryam Rostamipoor, Prerna Khanna, and Weimin Lyu were selected after a rigorous process that highlighted their significant contributions to computer science.

The fellowship is supported by an endowment from the Catacosinos family, established in 1978, aimed at providing opportunities for computer science students. Each fellow receives $5,000 to assist with their educational and research endeavors.

Faculty members nominate candidates whose applications are then reviewed by a committee. The application includes a research statement and vision, publications, and a CV.

Maryam Rostamipoor's work focuses on software and systems security. She is particularly interested in exploit mitigation technologies for serverless platforms and Kubernetes clusters. Prerna Khanna is dedicated to enhancing mobile application accessibility for people with disabilities. Weimin Lyu has contributed several first-author papers to top-tier conferences on topics like AI security and multimodal learning.

Further details about these fellows can be found on the Computer Science department's website.
