William Floyd Athletic Department celebrates student-athletes on signing day

The William Floyd Athletic Department recently held its annual senior signing day ceremony to honor 19 student-athletes who will continue their sports careers at the collegiate level. The event took place in the west gymnasium, where family, friends, and coaches gathered to celebrate these students' achievements.

Head Coach Keith Kobasiuk's baseball team saw Jonathan Bowden commit to the University of Bridgeport, Paul Cucuzzo to City College of New York, Caden Hetman to Farmingdale State College, and Jack Molini to Le Moyne College.

In boys’ basketball, coached by Will Slinkosky, Jawuan Smith signed with Queens College.

Football players under Head Coach Paul Longo included Geo Alvarez heading to Endicott College, Hunter Arcuri to SUNY Brockport, A.J. Cannet to the University of New Haven, Aaron Fisher to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Kris Watkins to Mount Union University.

For boys’ lacrosse led by Desmond Megna, DJ Blankenship committed to Pennsylvania College of Technology. Girls’ lacrosse players under Nicole Alesi included Madison Widecki going to Catawba College and Andie Will to Western Connecticut State University.

Paul Paniccia’s boys’ soccer team had Jazai Kidd committing to Suffolk County Community College, Liam Mehmel to St. Joseph’s University, and Julian Podstupka heading for Johnson and Wales University.

In softball coached by Frederick Luhrs, Ianna Bayley signed with Suffolk County Community College. Boys’ tennis player Paolo Nogueira from Michael Clauberg’s team committed to St. Joseph’s University.

Finally, Zariel Macchia from John Ryan's girls' track & cross country team will attend Brigham Young University.

Congratulations were extended along with best wishes for their future endeavors in college athletics this fall.
