Supervisor Dan Panico and Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich participated in an event on May 2, 2025, at the Setauket Neighborhood House to honor "250 Years Strong," a tribute to the Strong family's significant contributions during the American Revolution. The gathering was organized by the Anna Smith Strong Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The Anna Smith Strong Chapter focuses on preserving national history, promoting patriotism, and supporting community projects. The event celebrated the American spirit with local exhibits, refreshments, and a keynote address by historian Margo Arceri. Arceri shared insights into Kate Wheeler Strong's role in the Revolution.
"This event was a meaningful celebration of the American spirit and a tribute to the Strong family’s enduring legacy in our nation's fight for independence,” Supervisor Panico stated.
Councilmember Kornreich remarked, “This was more than just a look back at history—it was a celebration of identity, resilience, and the local roots of our nation’s fight for freedom.”
The event also aimed to support the chapter's mission to honor veterans, promote education, and preserve local heritage.
