Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico and Deputy Supervisor Neil Foley recently visited the Maryhaven Integrated Business Center (IBC) located in Yaphank. This visit, which took place on April 30, allowed them to tour the packaging and assembly operations of the center and to meet with its employees.

During the visit, Supervisor Panico and Deputy Supervisor Foley met with Amanda Dondero, the Director of Maryhaven IBC, and John Mahoney, the Assistant Director, among other staff members. These key figures provided an overview of the center's operations.

Maryhaven's IBC has been operational for over 40 years, providing employment and vocational training opportunities for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. The center, spanning 25,000 square feet, serves 175 individuals from Suffolk County, facilitating their independence and offering cost-effective solutions for local manufacturers.

Notable partners of Maryhaven's IBC include Optimum, Hain Celestial, Topiderm, and E-Green. These partnerships help address workforce challenges and ensure consistent service delivery.

Supervisor Panico remarked, “Maryhaven is an incredible place that truly enriches the lives of people with special needs.” He highlighted the dedication of the individuals working at the center. Deputy Supervisor Foley added, “The programs at Maryhaven are not only a lifeline for those they serve — they’re also a smart solution for local businesses.”

Maryhaven is currently concerned about potential changes to New York State policies that could impact these programs. Both Supervisor Panico and Deputy Supervisor Foley have pledged their support to the organization by reaching out to the Governor's office and state officials to advocate for Maryhaven.

Additional information about the visit and coverage can be accessed through the Town website or Maryhaven's site at http://www.maryhaven.org/.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
