Emanuelly Ferreira joins U.S. Futsal team for 2025 championship

Emanuelly Ferreira | Stony Brook University

Stony Brook University sophomore, Emanuelly Ferreira, has been named to the U.S. Women's Futsal National Team for the upcoming 2025 Concacaf Women's Futsal Championship. The event will take place from April 28 to May 4 in Guatemala City at the Domo Polideportivo.

Earlier this year, Ferreira was part of the national team that participated in its first international matches in Costa Rica. The team secured wins of 2-0 and 5-0 and played a 2-2 draw, during which Ferreira made her international debut and scored a crucial goal in the first half.

The U.S. team will compete with the aim of qualifying for the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup scheduled for November in the Philippines. Ferreira and her team will first face off against the winner of a play-in between Honduras and Nicaragua on April 29, followed by matches against Costa Rica on April 30 and Canada on May 1. The top two teams will progress to the semifinals on May 3, with the victors there securing a place in the World Cup and proceeding to the final the next day.

Ferreria's background includes playing for the Seawolves in 20 games during the 2024 fall season, where she accumulated one goal and four assists over 805 minutes.

The U.S. Futsal Women's National Team, which began its journey in 2022, has undergone a talent identification process and held its first complete training camp last July. Leading to the Concacaf qualifying tournament, they have organized three training camps this year, featuring friendly matches against Costa Rica.

The upcoming championship in Guatemala will be their debut in official competition.
