Police Bust Village of Patchogue Worker for Impersonating a Cop

William Dymond Mug Shot | SCPD

A Village of Patchogue Code Enforcement Officer was fired and arrested after police claimed he impersonated a cop, pulled over a woman, placed her in cuffs, and drove her home.

Suffolk County Police charged 33-year-old William Dymond with multiple felonies and misdemeanors.

Law enforcement said at approximately 5:20 AM on December 29th, 2024, Dyson was on the clock as a Village Code Enforcement Officer when he followed a woman he believed was driving while intoxicated on North Ocean Avenue in Patchogue.

Police say he pulled the woman over, something he is not legally allowed to do as a Code Enforcement Officer, and even conducted field sobriety tests.

That's when cops claim Dyson told the woman he had the power to arrest her, put her in handcuffs, placed her in his Code Enforcement vehicle, and drove the woman to her Centereach home.

While the alleged incident happened in December of last year, Suffolk County Police and the Office of Patchogue Village Code Enforcement were not notified of what happened until March 15th, 2025.

Dymond was arrested and charged with Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree, a felony, Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree, a felony, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor, and Official Misconduct, a misdemeanor.

He was fired from his job last month.

Police want to hear from other drivers if they experienced a similar situation with the suspect. Anyone who has or anyone with information about a similar incident is asked to call the Fifth Squad at 631.854.8541.
