Stony Brook and partners unveil new East Hampton emergency department

Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department | Stony Brook University

Stony Brook Medicine, alongside the Southampton Hospital Association and the Southampton Hospital Foundation, announced the anticipated opening of the Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department during a ribbon-cutting event held on April 5. The new facility, set to begin operations in late spring, is designed as an off-campus extension of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Emergency Department. Located at 400 Pantigo Place in East Hampton, it will be among the few free-standing emergency departments in New York State.

Designed to cater to critical healthcare demands, the 22,000-square-foot emergency facility will serve residents and visitors of areas including Amagansett, Montauk, Sag Harbor, and Springs as part of the Stony Brook Medicine healthcare system. The facility is expected to operate around the clock, accommodating patients every day of the year.

The Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department has been equipped to handle a range of medical emergencies with features such as a dedicated resuscitation room, cardiac monitoring in every exam room, and specialized fast-track treatment rooms for various patient needs. It also boasts two isolation rooms and a comprehensive imaging center with MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and X-ray capabilities. Supporting hospital transport, an on-site ambulance will be available, and the facility incorporates eco-friendly elements like rooftop solar panels, a rain-catch garden, and native plantings to minimize environmental impact.
