The 7 Fingers to present Duel Reality at Staller Center on April 11-12

The 7 Fingers at Staller Center | Stony Brook University

The acclaimed performance group, The 7 Fingers, is set to present their latest show, Duel Reality, at the Staller Center. The performances will take place on the evenings of April 11th and April 12th. Renowned for their distinctive style, The 7 Fingers' production combines elements from circus, theater, illusion, music, and dance, delivering a captivating experience rooted in a narrative akin to Romeo and Juliet. The storyline features two feuding families and their many challenges, all while focusing on a love story that transcends the competition.

The group was founded in Quebec by seven artists. Shana Carroll, one of the founding members, shared insights about the group's artistic vision in an interview with Staller Center’s Backstage blog. She spoke about the integration of circus and theater in their shows and the central themes of community in Duel Reality. Carroll elaborated on their journey toward forming a hybrid art style, emphasizing the principles of trust and teamwork that underpin their performances.

Shana Carroll commented: “What I like about this show is that it’s built like a competition and a battle, but by the end when it resolves, we realize that the interdependent language has been woven throughout the whole time. The message of community isn’t just a statement, it’s actually visceral, because we’re watching people put their lives in each other’s hands.”
