Moriches Elementary School recently held its annual W.A.R.M. Week, an event highlighting the importance of reading and literacy among its students. The theme for this year's event was "Reading Through the U.S.A." and included a variety of engaging activities for the students.

The school hosted a range of thematic dress-up days, mystery riddles, and sessions with mystery readers, all aimed at encouraging the students' enthusiasm for reading. One of the notable highlights was the Literacy Night, which attracted more than 200 families to participate.

"Students enjoyed live music by the Moriches Elementary faculty band," and attendees were treated to free books, refreshments, and raffles. Teacher-led read-alouds also featured during the event. In a bid to marry the love of reading with community support, the school collected non-perishable food items at the event entrance. These items were then donated to the local food pantry, supporting families in need.

The acting principal expressed satisfaction with yet another successful “W.A.R.M. Week for all of the Moriches faculty and students," emphasizing the joy and community spirit that the event embodies.

The event was further enhanced by free book giveaways and performances at the Literacy Night, reflecting the school’s commitment to fostering a love for reading among students and community involvement.
