Hochul Meets Trump in White House - Again

Gov. Hochul travels to White House | Grok/Twitter

Governor Kathy Hochul traveled to Washington, DC to meet again with President Donald Trump this past week.

After recently declaring herself the “Leader of the Resistance”, it appears Hochul now needs something from Trump. They both need something from one another, but Hochul needs more.

Both Hochul and Trump have been quiet about how the meeting went.

Trump wants Hochul to approve a gas pipeline that would run from Pennsylvania to New York and branch off to New England. The project for the Constitutional Pipeline got dropped in 2020 after New York said the pipeline did not meet New York’s water quality standards.

"The whole of New England and Connecticut and New York, energy prices are through the roof and this one pipeline will save per family $2,500 dollars just on heating," he said.

Hochul wants Trump to back off his opposition to her Congestion Pricing tax scheme. She is also concerned about the effects of tariffs on New York business and job loss and empty real estate from reduction in the federal workforce.

A statement from state press officials summarized the meeting. It reads:

"Governor Hochul and President Trump covered a broad range of topics in today's meeting, including the redevelopment of Penn Station, congestion pricing, tariffs, and energy policy. While no formal agreements or decisions were reached, it was a productive conversation, and we look forward to continuing the dialogue in the coming weeks."

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
