Thirteen students from William Floyd High School, William Floyd Middle School, and William Paca Middle School were recognized as members of the New York State Band Directors Association (NYSBDA) All-State Honor Band Festival. This event took place in Syracuse, NY over the past weekend.

The selection to the NYSBDA is a significant achievement for student-musicians. It requires exceptional performance on NYSSMA solo scores and a recommendation from their director. In addition to those selected, three students were named as alternates.

From William Floyd High School, directed by Garry Helbock and Kimberly Hyland, the honored musicians include Darren Ertola on percussion, Devin Scalice on French horn, Briant Fuentes on baritone saxophone, Jacob White on clarinet, Hannah Acero-Grant also on French horn, Aviana Higueros on clarinet, and Becky Neikens on flute. Brooklyn Barnes (piccolo) and Joseph Cabrera (tenor saxophone) were selected as alternates.

William Floyd Middle School's participants were under the direction of Dawn Conefry, Christine Furlani, and Caroline Feryo. They included Ryan Vasquez Romero on clarinet, Benjamin Resnik also on clarinet, Bryan Cortez Lima again on clarinet, Emanuel Aldana playing tuba, and Ryan Formato handling percussion. Logyn Bond was an alternate for trombone.

From William Paca Middle School directed by Joseph Cordaro was Elizabeth LaMarche who played trombone.
