A class action lawsuit has been filed, accusing pet food companies Compana Pet Brands LLC and Premium Nutritional Products, Inc. of misleading consumers about the natural ingredients in their products.

The lawsuit, filed by Catherine Riggs-Bergesen, claimss that these companies have falsely marketed their "ZuPreem" pet food products as "natural," despite containing synthetic ingredients. According to the complaint, these products include components such as pyridoxine hydrochloride, citric acid, D-calcium pantothenate, folic acid, tocopherols, dl-methionine, menadione sodium bisulfite complex, and copper sulfate—all of which are not naturally occurring substances. Riggs-Bergesen asserts that she purchased these products based on the defendants' representations and would not have done so had she known the truth about their composition. She accuses the companies of violating New York General Business Law §§ 349 & 350 and breaching express warranty laws.

The plaintiff is seeking compensatory damages for herself and other affected consumers who were misled by the labeling. Additionally, she seeks an injunction to prevent further deceptive marketing practices by these companies. The lawsuit also demands corrective advertising to inform consumers accurately about what they are purchasing. Furthermore, Riggs-Bergesen is asking for statutory and punitive damages as well as reimbursement for attorney fees and costs associated with bringing this case forward.

Riggs-Bergesen is represented by attorneys Alec Leslie and Julian C. Diamond from Bursor & Fisher, P.A. The case was filed in the Eastern District of New York court system under Case No. 1:25-cv-01067

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
