The newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has taken Washington, D.C., by storm over the last three weeks.
As the Trump administration pushes for much-needed transparency in federal taxpayer spending, Democrats watch as their schemes are exposed for the world to see. With each new revelation, outrage spreads across the country.
DOGE’s mission is to identify and eliminate wasteful government spending, ensuring taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and transparently.
By exposing corruption and mismanagement, DOGE aims to restore public trust and hold officials accountable—something Americans have long demanded from their government.
This reminds me of when critics attacked Elon Musk for spending $44 billion on Twitter (now X), arguing that the money could have been used to solve world hunger.
By that same logic, we’ve now seen over $100 billion uncovered as wasteful government spending enough to solve world hunger twice over, with money to spare.
Meanwhile, homelessness in the U.S. is estimated to affect between 250,000 and 3 million people, and experts suggest it would take roughly $20 billion to solve the crisis. So, I ask: why haven’t we done this?
The hypocrisy on display in Washington, D.C., is staggering.
If only Democrats fought as hard to end homelessness and hunger as they do to fund projects like gender studies, we might see real change. Instead, their priorities seem misplaced.
That’s why it’s time for Americans to pay close attention to DOGE and ensure nothing gets swept under the rug. Here at The South Shore Press, we’re committed to keeping you informed.
