Former William Floyd High School graduate has an impressive and lengthy resume of putting “service over self” by serving our community and country:
* Army combat veteran
* New York State Senator
* United States Congressman
* Former gubernatorial candidate
Now you can add two more titles to Zeldin’s career when he returns to public service: Presidential Cabinet member Environmental Protection Agency Administrator.
By a 56-42 vote, the United States Senate confirmed Zeldin’s appointment, with three Democrats joining Republicans in confirming Zeldin.
Following the confirmation vote, the WFHS grad thanked Senators for voting in the affirmative.
“ CONFIRMED! Thank You to the 56 Senators for your vote and confidence. Grateful to President @realDonaldTrump for having the faith in me to be part of his Cabinet as @EPA Administrator. Make America Great Again!” wrote Zeldin on @X, formerly Twitter.
The White House also released a statement on @X, praising Zeldin and his appointment.
“@LeeMZeldin's confirmation as EPA Administrator highlights President Trump's commitment to energy dominance, revitalizing the auto industry, and protecting access to clean air and water. America is BACK,” penned the White House Twitter feed.
The positive praise continued on social media for Zeldin’s confirmation.
“I’m pleased that Lee Zeldin is focused on bringing a collaborative approach to the EPA,” said United States Senate Majority Leader John Thune.
“Another Trump nominee confirmed, and another "yes" vote from me. Congratulations
@leezeldin! I look forward to your leadership at the EPA,” said United States Senator Bill Cassidy.
Other Congressional leaders called on Zeldin to take a metaphorical chainsaw to what they believe is a bloated bureaucracy with a radical environmental agenda.
“Please dismantle @EPA and return it to its core mission. It’s been destroying the economy of West Virginia for decades. It’s been lead by climate cult leaders that have no interest in human flourishing in this country,” concluded Congressman Riley Moore.
