Suffolk County Community College is set to host an exhibition titled "Drone Beuys: Origins" at the Sagtikos Art Gallery. The display will run from February 12 to March 28, 2025, in the Sagtikos Arts and Science Building on the Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood. Visitors are invited to engage with themes of myth, creation, and technology through a series of interactive artworks.
The exhibition is a collaboration between artists Nick Bontrager and Adam Fung. They aim to reflect on the legacy of Joseph Beuys using contemporary technology. The gallery will feature video projections, sculptures, and a large-scale inflatable structure designed to foster exploration and experimentation.
Landscapes from residency projects in Iceland, West Texas, the Caribbean seas, Tasmania, and Italy will be showcased alongside animations and data points exploring both real and imagined terrains. Attendees can interact with these works as part of a collaborative origin story.
An opening event is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., where Bontrager and Fung will discuss their work at 12:30 p.m., followed by a reception offering light refreshments. The public can attend free of charge.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For more details, contact the Sagtikos Art Gallery at 631-851-6380.
