John Melandro, a fifth-grade teacher at Tangier Smith Elementary School and recipient of the 2024 Milken Educator Award, will be featured on LI News Radio's "Spotlight on Long Island Schools." The program is scheduled for Saturday, January 25, at 10:30 am. Alongside him will be Dominic Ciliotta, the principal of Tangier Smith Elementary School.

Melandro made history as William Floyd’s first-ever recipient of the Milken Educator Award last fall. This prestigious award is often referred to as the “Oscar of Teaching” and honors educators who demonstrate exceptional dedication to excellence in education.

The radio show "Spotlight on Long Island Schools" is hosted by Robert Vecchio. Vecchio serves as the executive director of the Nassau-Suffolk School Boards Association and is a former trustee and president of the William Floyd Board of Education.

For those unable to catch the live broadcast, recordings will be available for later listening.
