A New York man has filed a lawsuit alleging racial, religious, and color discrimination in the workplace, as well as retaliation that led to his termination.
Shahriar Korrori initiated the complaint on January 13, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York against Haydan Consultants Inc., its president Achaibar Sawh, and supervisors Alicia Elias and Moses Murray.
The case centers around allegations that Korrori faced a hostile work environment at Haydan Consultants Inc., where he was employed as an Electrical Inspector starting in February 2021.
According to the complaint, Korrori experienced discriminatory remarks and actions from his supervisors based on his race, color, and religion. He claims that after overhearing derogatory comments about Jewish people made by Elias in April 2022, he was subjected to further scrutiny regarding his religious background.
When Korrori attempted to report these incidents to Sawh, no investigation or remedial action was taken; instead, he alleges that he faced retaliation.
Korrori's troubles reportedly continued when he was reassigned to another project under Murray's supervision. During this time, Korrori reported numerous safety violations at the job site but claims his concerns were dismissed or met with hostility.
He alleges that Murray threatened him with termination if he continued reporting these issues. Despite ongoing harassment and threats of physical assault from Murray in January 2023, Korrori's complaints were allegedly ignored by management.
In response to these grievances, Korrori is seeking compensatory damages for lost wages and benefits due to unlawful discrimination and retaliatory actions. He also seeks damages for emotional distress and injury to reputation caused by the defendants' conduct.
Additionally, Korrori requests punitive damages and attorney fees as part of the relief sought from the court.
Representing Shahriar Korrori is Roman Avshalumov of Helen F. Dalton & Associates P.C., while details regarding legal representation for Haydan Consultants Inc., Achaibar Sawh, Alicia Elias, and Moses Murray are not specified in the document. The case is being heard under Case ID 1:25-cv-00209.
