Ja'Quan Thomas honored as high school football offensive player of the year

William Floyd High School junior Ja’Quan Thomas has been recognized as the "High School Football Offensive Player of the Year" by the New York Jets and Gatorade. As a starting running back for the Colonials, Thomas achieved a remarkable season with 2,594 rushing yards and 37 touchdowns, leading his team to win the Suffolk County title.

In addition to this accolade, Thomas was also named a co-recipient of the Joe Cipp Award for Suffolk County’s best running back. He earned spots on Newsday's All-Long Island First Team and was recognized as Division I MVP.

The award comes with a $1,000 donation from the Jets and Gatorade to the William Floyd football program. Moreover, Thomas and his family have been invited to attend an upcoming Jets home game against the Los Angeles Rams at MetLife Stadium on December 22. During this event, he will be acknowledged on the field for his achievements.

Thomas has been a student in William Floyd schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, including John S. Hobart Elementary School and William Paca Middle School.
