Stuck in New York in what legal experts are calling a sham trial and blatant election interference by President Joe Biden, Donald Trump blew the Big Apple away with press briefings and an epic campaign rally across the river in New Jersey attended by nearly 100,000 supporters.
Biden’s attempt to defeat the former president with lawfare—Trump is facing charges by three different Democrat prosecutors—is backfiring badly. Leading Biden in almost every poll, Trump goes before the cameras in the Media Capital of the World daily and bashes his opponent for his shady legal tactics and the sorry state of the union under the lifelong politician.
Trump’s Wildwood rally was an extended compare-and-contrast between the two presidents with jabs and vignettes sprinkled in, spurring the crowd into patriotic chants of “USA, USA,” and other supportive mantras. Central to Trump’s reelection bid is Biden’s poor handling of the economy and the crushing inflation voters are experiencing due to Bidenomics. The year 2019, before the “China Virus” derailed Trump’s agenda, was one of the best economically for the nation; the three-plus years under Biden have been among the worst.
Trump reminds everyone that he was the first president in generations to not have a war start under his watch. He boldly proclaims that Putin would have never invaded Ukraine while he was in the Oval Office, Hamas would not have conducted the October terrorist attack on Israel and the ensuing war in Gaza would not have broken out. Trump explains to his crowds that Biden abruptly abandoning Afghanistan, leaving the Bagram Air Base and billions of military equipment to Communist China, was the “nation’s biggest foreign policy failure.” Biden’s blunder, he says, emboldened the nation’s adversaries, with North Korea threatening its neighbors and China gearing up to invade Taiwan. “The Middle East is a mess,” Trump exclaims. Trump also castigates his opponent for throwing open the southern border and inviting in millions of illegal aliens, while allowing a flow of Fentanyl and other illicit drugs to destroy American families.
In an unprecedented spectacle, the nation’s top Republican leaders, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and a who’s who of Congressional reps, took to the microphones outside the New York courtroom where Trump is sequestered and fired away at Biden and the “corrupt Democrats” with both Barrels. Trump was slapped with a gag order by the judge hearing the case, a move that motivated Trump’s defenders even further.
As the cameras rolled, it was revealed that the judge presiding over the case is a substantial Biden donor and his daughter is a major Democrat fundraiser who has generated tens of millions for Trump’s opponents—and millions in personal profit—by highlighting the trial. Biden sent a lawyer from the Justice Department to try the case, which was previously thought by the Justice Department and the Manhattan district attorney to have no merit.
The prosecutor in Trump’s Georgia case hired her boyfriend to go after the ex-president and it was revealed that he billed taxpayers for the time he spent in Washington coordinating the case with the Biden White House. The two went on numerous vacations together, purportedly spending money he earned on the case which the DA said she paid back with cash she had stashed at her house. The Florida case where Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was raided has been put on hold to sort out irregularities in the way the seized documents were handled. Democrats trying to throw him off the ballot using the narrative that Trump fomented the January 6 Capitol riots failed in Colorado, while an expected ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court on whether presidents have immunity for their executive actions may also throw another monkey wrench in Biden’s lawfare tactics.
Lost in the drama of the day is the Democrat targeting of Trump’s attorneys, including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, for supposedly helping him conduct criminal acts. A former chief advisor, Peter Navarro, is in jail for invoking executive privilege and refusing to testify before Congress against his former boss. Ironically, this week Biden’s attorney general, Merrick Garland, invoked the same privilege and refused to testify about Biden taking classified documents from Washington when he was vice president.
The fact that these years-old cases are coming to light just before the election is not lost on anyone, and with Biden tanking in the polls and Trump making a play in typically Blue States such as New Jersey, political observers believe lawfare is Biden’s only hope for reelection. Doubling down, Trump has planned another rally in the South Bronx, an area thick with Democrat voters.
Trump, and those speaking on his behalf, conclude with a single point they believe should send chills down the spine of every American: If a political party can turn the taxpayer-funded Justice System against billionaire Donald Trump and his supporters, imagine what they could do to everyone else.
