Stony Brook University Hospital and Stony Brook Southampton Hospital have both received an 'A' Hospital Safety Grade for fall 2024 from The Leapfrog Group. This organization is a national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety, which assigns letter grades to hospitals based on over 30 performance measures related to errors, accidents, injuries, and infections.
“These ‘A’ grades from The Leapfrog Group validate our commitment to delivering the highest standard of safe, quality care,” stated William A. Wertheim, MD, MBA, Executive Vice President for Stony Brook Medicine. Carol Gomes, CEO of Stony Brook University Hospital, added that the grade reflects "exceptional, safety-focused healthcare" provided by their team.
Stony Brook Southampton Hospital has achieved this top distinction for the second consecutive year. Emily Mastaler, Chief Administrative Officer at SBSH, emphasized the dedication of their team in maintaining patient safety.
