Dr. Albert “Albie” Michaels taught in the State University of New York system for 45 years.
When the professor stepped on campus in 1967 he freely shared his conservative beliefs and strong Jewish faith.
“Back then you had a great deal of ideological diversity. Not anymore. There’s none today,” said Dr. Michaels.
“Today” a tidal wave of political correctness permeates college campuses to the point that Ivy League presidents refuse to condemn students who proudly proclaimed the Pro-Palestinian chant “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
The Jordan River sits to the east of Israel, the Mediterranean Sea is to its west. Many hear that as a call to eradicate Israel.
“Can you imagine how that makes a Jewish student feel? We are concerned about the atmosphere for Jewish students on campus,” said Eric Post, Regional Director of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Long Island.
Conservatives cried foul eight years ago when the Yale Intercultural Affairs Committee condemned Halloween costumes, publishing a memo warning students not to offend others:
• Does this costume reduce cultural differences to jokes?
• Could someone take offense at your costume?
How did we get from college campuses crying about costumes to students calling for the end of Israel?
“The mobs we see on campus are the result of a generation that has never been taught to value, practice, and protect free speech. They only know how to scream, demand, and punch. Higher education needs to course correct immediately if it is going to provide any value to students and America,” said Dr. Zachary Marschall, Editor and Chief of CampusReform.org, a conservative watchdog whose mission is to expose liberal bias and abuse on America’s college campuses.
Keep in mind, the left set the standard that “words are violence.”

Barret justified blocking conservatives like “hatemonger like Milo Yiannopoulos to speak at your school” because speech can cause stress, stress can cause physical harm, so therefore words are violence.
If “words are violence” why didn’t college presidents of Harvard, Penn, and MIT answer Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s question during a hearing on December 5th, 2023: “Does ‘calling for the genocide of Jews’ a violation of your code of conduct?”
They refused to answer, as highlighted in the Times of Israel headline “Heads of 3 top US colleges refuse to say calling for genocide of Jews is harassment.”
Thankfully, it appears the tide is turning towards common sense and away from fear to condemn raging anti-semitism.
There’s legislative pushback in the politically correct paradigm that ushered in DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) policies at colleges across the country that many believe were the seeds of indoctrination that sprouted today’s crop of campus wokeism.
According to CNN, more than 12 state legislatures across the country passed bills or proposed legislation to cut spending for DEI programs. Ohio and Virginia want to ban DEI type teaching.
Dr. Michaels said the solution goes deeper. He recommends banning teacher tenure, due to the fact that like-minded professors indoctrinate generations of young students.
“Radical, liberal bias begins in the hiring process. They’re all leftists. They won’t hire anyone else,” said Dr. Michaels.
As for Post, he said the AJC encourages administrations to adopt policies to combat anti-semitism and works with students to keep them safe.
“It’s bizarre that in 2023 we have to fight so hard to protect Jewish interests. We always will,” concluded Post.
