Full Steam Ahead for Shirley Starbucks

Proposed Starbucks location at 855 Montauk Highway in Shirley | Town of Brookhaven

Coffee lovers will have another place to get their caffeine fix in Shirley, as the Brookhaven Town Board approved zoning and procedural requests for Starbucks to build a new store located at 855 Montauk Highway.

Starbucks Construction Manager Jeff Beringer and Mancini Mui Architecture CEO Mark Mancini presented plans before the Brookhaven Town Board at their last public meeting.

Starbucks needed special permits to build outside seating and to establish a commercial restaurant on the site.

“On behalf of Starbucks, we are excited to be a part of this community,” said Beringer.

The location on Montauk Highway was ideal for the national coffee chain.

“There will be no additional curb cuts onto Montauk Highway, as all existing ingress and egress to the center will remain the same,” said Brookhaven Supervisor Dan Panico.

“We tried to locate in different areas, but one of the biggest obstacles was disturbing a traffic pattern. The shopping center works extremely well in getting people in and out. There’s no cross traffic and it is safe for pedestrians. It’s going to work extremely well in this area,” said Mancini.

Starbucks representatives also announced potential hours for the new Shirley location: opening at either 5:30 a.m. or 6:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and on Sundays from 6:30 a.m. to either 8:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m.

No official date for a grand opening has been set.
