Students Honor Suffolk County's Top Cops

Hero Parade at Waverly Elementary School | Suffolk County Sheriff's Office

Students and staff at Waverly Elementary School in Holtsville wanted to show police their gratitude and appreciation for keeping Suffolk County safe.

They decided to honor Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Sheriff Christopher Brockmeyer and fellow members of the department with a “Hero Parade.”

Students lined the hallways and bus loops, clapping and cheering as the community heroes walked through.

Chief Brockmeyer has protected and served Suffolk County families for more than two decades, entering the force in 1998.

He followed in his father’s footsteps, who bravely served as a 37-year New York City Police Department Detective.

Chief Brockmeyer is credited with maximizing technology to implement a “data-driven” focus for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office. He spearheaded the creation of the Police Technology Management Section and managed technology-related software, equipment, and initiatives that included the Records Management System, Computer Aided Dispatch, In-Car and Body Camera systems, License Plate Reader technology, security and access control, and many others.
