Some creative kindergarten cooks learned some mathematical lessons about numbers and “pi” using pizza pies.

Kindergartners in Ms. McNally’s class at Edward J. Bosti Elementary School in the Connetquot Central School District celebrated the completion of their shapes unit in math by turning their classroom into an Italian restaurant.

Students became chefs, making “shape pizzas” and topped them with different shapes to represent pepperoni, mushrooms, ham and onions. After the students added their “toppings,” they counted and recorded how many of each shape they had.
