William Floyd High School CTE Students Visit Citi Field

It was an Amazin’ Visit by William Floyd High School to see the Amazin’ Mets at Citi Field.

About 200 students from all of William Floyd High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs took part in a day at Citi Field sponsored by the Haugland Group and presented by Sports Power Clean Energy.

Students participated in a breakout session with Sports Power, learning about offshore wind turbines and home energy efficiency simulations. The session helped promote workforce development and job exploration within the fields of clean energy and technology.

In addition to these breakout sessions, students enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of Citi Field. This included visiting the media area, getting to watch batting practice up close and learning the history of both the stadium and the New York Mets. Later on, students participated in an “In Game Sports Power Clean Energy Photo Scavenger Hunt” for their final activity.

As part of this experience, the William Floyd CTE program was featured on the Citi Field jumbotron and live Mets broadcast, with the live broadcast specifically highlighting the program.

The William Floyd High School CTE program offers eight CTE program academies in a variety of interest areas, as well as five CTE pathways in business and technology

Graduation pathways include Accounting, Architecture, Business Management, Engineering, and Microsoft Office Specialist. CTE academy offerings include Automotive, Barbering, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Home Design & Carpentry (with electrical and plumbing), Medical Assisting, Marine & Motorsports and Certified Personal Trainer & Nutritionist. William Floyd High School CTE is preparing students to be career and college ready and learn valuable skills and know-how they can take with them throughout their lives.
