Polar Plunge event returns to Cedar Beach on November 23

Neil A. Manzella Council District 3 | Town of Brookhaven

Councilwoman Jane Bonner is calling on residents of Brookhaven to participate in the 14th annual New York Special Olympics Polar Plunge. The event is set for November 23 at Cedar Beach in Mt. Sinai. Interested participants can register online at specialolympics.org or register on-site starting at 9:30 am, with the plunge scheduled to begin at 11:30 am. Cedar Beach is located at 244 Harbor Beach Road in Mt. Sinai.

The evening before the plunge, a Pre-Plunge Party will be held at J&R’s Steakhouse in Rocky Point, where attendees can sign waivers, submit donations, and collect wristbands for the event. Participants who raise $150 or more will receive a free sweatshirt.

Special Olympic athletes train extensively for competitions and are supported by over 5,000 coaches and 4,300 volunteers. These athletes are not charged fees to participate; instead, they depend entirely on donations to cover expenses.

Councilwoman Bonner encourages all community members to take part in the plunge and support through donations.
