Eleven faculty members from Stony Brook University will be officially installed in endowed positions during a ceremony on October 25. The event, part of the university's Homecoming Weekend, will take place at the Charles B. Wang Center Theater.

Interim President Richard McCormick highlighted the significance of the event in an email to the university community. "This program also pays tribute to our extraordinary donors whose generosity supports these eminent scholars and enables Stony Brook to continually advance its rich, groundbreaking intellectual community," he stated.

The keynote address will be delivered by Esther S. Takeuchi, PhD, who holds the William and Jane Knapp Endowed Chair in Energy and the Environment and is a SUNY Distinguished Professor. Her research focuses on battery chemistry and technology with the goal of developing reliable, high-powered, and environmentally friendly energy storage solutions.

Endowed positions are among the highest honors for university faculty and reflect both academic excellence and donor support. The ceremony will conclude with a reception open to all attendees. Registration is available online until October 18.
