Over the summer, the SBU Eats team worked to transform dining locations throughout the Stony Brook University campus. The changes include new spaces, menu items, expanded mobile ordering, and additional outdoor seating areas.
"The SBU Eats team aims to enrich campus life by offering a diverse dining experience that caters to the tastes and preferences of our community. We are confident that the quality of service and culinary creations that will be delivered in all of our dining locations will far exceed expectations. Many of the changes to our dining program are a direct result of the valuable feedback we have received from the SBU community," stated Diana Kubik, executive director, Auxiliary Services Association.
The newly renovated Starbucks at Melville Library now features three state-of-the-art barista workstations designed for faster service. The café includes large windows for natural light and a separate entrance for mobile orders next to Shop Red West. Guests can use their Starbucks app to earn and redeem rewards on beverages.
Several other dining locations have also been upgraded. SAC Food Court's WokWork stir-fry station now accommodates six customers at a time for quick meals. East Side Dining has added Carvel Ice Cream and Iron Waffles to its offerings. Jasmine at Charles B. Wang Center has remodeled its sushi station for better convenience and introduced a new seating area with a living wall.
Roth Cafe has added Popeyes® Louisiana Kitchen, known for New Orleans-style fried chicken with Cajun and Creole flavors. It is located five minutes from SAC Food Court and also offers Subway, Smash n’ Shake burgers and milkshakes, Savor pasta sauté, and Starbucks on its lower level.
The School of Dental Medicine now features a café offering breakfast specials, bagels, paninis, hot entrées, snacks, and Starbucks coffee.
New outdoor seating areas have been added at Jasmine patio, outside Starbucks at Melville Library, and behind West Side Dining. The expanded SBU Eats food truck fleet now includes Nathan’s Famous truck at SAC Plaza with chicken tenders, crinkle-cut French fries, and hot dogs available via mobile ordering.
Stadium concessions during game days will feature Nathan’s Famous hot dogs and treats from Carvel.
